- Ginger was born in Saint Petersburg, Florida, on September 1, 1965.
- She has received a B.A in English and Theatre degree from the University of South Carolina.
- One of Ginger’s college professors advised her to pursue a career in news broadcasting and also helped her get an internship at WIS-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, SC.

- Ginger worked at WXIN-TV (Fox 59 News) from 1996 to 1998. She began on the weekend weather forecast and then was promoted to the 10 PM news anchor, broadcasting daily-to-air stories.
- From 1998 to 2000, she headed to Dallas to work with KTVT-TV (CBS 11 News), promoting news on weekends first and later delivering the 5 and 6 AM news.
- From 2001 to 2006, Gadsden was a news anchor/correspondent for USA Today. Here, she worked closely with newspaper correspondents & produced TV stories. She even anchored daily morning news segments for various local news affiliates such as WXIA, KPNX, KUSA, WKYC, KXTV and KSDK.

Besides anchoring, she helped produce original content and utilized social media to push the stories forward. She woke up at 2 AM almost daily for her work at WTSP.
- In 2013, she quit WTSP, and a year in June 2014, she joined the team of WKMG-TV in Orlando, where she continues to work to this day.
